Fox News gets a 'warm' reception at the Milwaukee Dems' monthly meeting

Fox News Channel has the cameras turned on them at a local Democratic Party meeting in Milwaukee, WI, 10/25/10. Fox News reporter can’t defend his organization and “understands” why Democrats don’t trust Fox News. The reporter is from national Fox News Channel, he’s based in Chicago, this is not a local reporter from a Fox affiliate.

hi delicious to the play by the United States of America Republic for which it stands one nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for all farrar action beef all right good roofer people we had a short beating there's a big packer game that night I know people were very focused on about the job good picture yesterday right very good we want to do the same sort of thing tonight he's tonight and I want too tight it's really really important that as many of you stay it will only take you 15 minutes or 20 minutes or half an hour to get through a pack of the call but the people were going to call night are not voters we're going to be doing plenty of that over the next week tonight we're going to call other volunteers it's Democrats calling Democrats and the idea is that we need to get some of these people to sign up for more gotv shifts right we need to make sure that every voter in Wisconsin gets contacted multiple times we now the election and reminded how bored it is to vote we have a couple of questions for the gentleman you just join us in the back the people who are here where are you from guys Fox you should hear what your day yeah Ruth are you producer importer miss producer what's your last name Ruth Ruth brought in from fox news channel yours sir steve from great so we have a question for you here you're here for Fox News Channel and ostensibly you're here to cover this meeting but the reality is that the Fox News Corporation has donated a million dollars to the parent company and stories a million dollars the Republican Governors Association to help defeat Tom Barrett and I to get out the vote for Democrats how long earth and we supposed to trust you for watching channel to report fairly i loves happening tonight tell me that is a bro yards and we like the microphone you can longer than okay there's a community of the microphone addicted you're my meeting it's a private meeting of the Democratic Party watch v naught equals you're going to walk in the back of the room uninvited and then you're going to stand up if you're gonna say you're not going to be heard by the people in the room you made a typical you can't hear you you're just speaking lotto so we're having on to the front and use your microphone called you call this you respond to you grab whatever you called nobody called you back now what do you buy to do to the meeting now you're here in the room sir and I have to question you want to answer a great you don't want to answer if that's fine too but reality is that i don't think your news organization i'm not imputing your personal credibility sir your views organization is not credible it's not please let me sit you called you email four or five members of this organization selected for about two weeks ago if I could just be here and you said hey Michelle Obama is going to be in town and let's remind people with the frame of that question was the frame of your question was our things get so bad for the Democrats that Michelle Obama now has it that you have to call on her point that wasn't the frame no gran was afraid he called you first what else about right that was the frame of the question the frayed the question wasn't hey are you excited or Democrat decided to see Michelle Obama on the trail the issue was she out here to save the Democrats that was the question that you asked so why on up on your meeting and uninvited we didn't have any communication did to get voted out before over now permitted to be here because of that lack of communication we needed to see if there was possibility guys we're gonna like monday you so human grab your meeting I'm not trying to mr. chairman attempting to you know catch something that isn't permitted to be seen from your this meeting was provided very highly hi phone application not just for the City of Milwaukee but for the surrounding area and we understand that this is a very critical area for statewide candidates to be able to tap into votes here in order to win various races including the governor's race in the Senate race which is why for more clothes online or do you understand though let me just ask you this is a fair question Democrats five-month I got the same I got the reaction ex-special we didn't prep for this at all I got the reaction I expected do you think it's it's understandable why Democrats across the country have this reaction when Fox News shows up that they feel it's not a fair organization as a biased organization and doesn't give a fair shake to democrats and democratic viewpoints I'm really big on personal responsibility and I'm responsible for what i do not but nothing organization pays you you're now responsible for every Democrat okay in America you're not even responsible for every Democratic Party Milwaukee County your you you are elected in their leadership but you're not responsible for each and every one of those for you I'm not responsible for things that I don't do okay so you think so your view is again I'm asking if you understand the reaction people have I understand and I have been dealing with this various different degrees for 12 years I understand people are a lot of they have whatever opinion they wish they have about my organization or any other one okay if you don't want us here here's what I'll say this is what I'll say and I'm gonna make an executive decision because I'm the chairman of the party and I'm going to take that role I'm not going to kick him up if they want to stay here and watch us to talk about democratic values and democratic issues I think that the Fox News Channel should evolve to be like them all right all right I kick your mother to look at this is looking to say this I think number I think most um I'm not going to discussion about it come to since I yep we're going to have it open meeting because every citizen of Juan County welcome to come here if they want to report on what's going on and what's happening in this election I think that what they'll see is if we're fired up I

@MisterHappyGoLucky You criticize my writing and say I "must be a child," yet you open your comment with "Lol" and say you "laugh" at a story documenting how Media Matters, yet again, takes things out of context. It's like you're trying to look like an idiot. Well, of course I don't expect YOU to be persuaded. You're a drone. But there are others who may be reading this, and injecting some cognitive dissonance into you drones SOMETIMES gets the job done, given time – I've been successful before.

@MisterHappyGoLucky (continued) Finally, I cannot help but note that you totally ignored the other three examples. Media Matters and MM zealots like you are increasingly becoming a laughingstock – and utterly irrelevant.

Ex 3: You (sort of) concede it, but can't help but throw out a completely unsubstantiated claim (just like your pals at MM!). Also, MM's "correction" was cloaked in bullcrap: It said the original headline "did not make clear that Beck’s co-hosts were being satirical." Got that? Didn't make it "clear." Honest mistake, or something! Oh wait, no. As Mediaite puts it, "In other words – the exact opposite of Media Matters’ post." MM = liars and cowards. (continues)

@MisterHappyGoLucky (continued)
Ex 2: MM had access to the full video yet purposefully CHOSE to edit it in such a way as to manufacture a SMEAR. They omitted the part that DIRECTLY CONTRADICTED THEIR CLAIM. Where you get off saying that's "not much of a complaint" is a mystery because where I come from, blatant lies and smears are something well worth complaining about. Saying Beck shouldn't have covered the story at all is arguable, but more importantly, IRRELEVANT. MM LIED. PERIOD. (continues)

@MisterHappyGoLucky Hand-waving away the examples doesn't cut it. You're not even doing a very good job at hand-waving, either. Your logic and reasoning is not, well, logical or reasonable, nor do you even seem to try. You are intellectually bankrupt. For one, MM reported the anti-Christ question as if it was said in all seriousness; it WAS NOT, and your spin on the answer to the question is just your "interpretation" (you heard what you wanted to). Ex. 4: NewsReal Blog's "Media Matters Lies Again, This Time About Obama Intimidating Supreme Court"
Ex. 5: NewsReal Blog's "Media Matters Won't Apologize for Spreading Fake Limbaugh Slavery Quote"
Ex. 6: watch?v=uJhe00QSlBI (racism smear on Bill O'Reilly from MM repeated by CNN and MSNBC)

If I could paste the URLs w/o YouTube eating them, I would. A search engine will find the articles, though.

And there are more.

@MisterHappyGoLucky Your blindness to things Beck has done doesn't mean he hasn't done them. Media Matters is a hack group with a stated purpose of attacking FNC. They're funded by people with Far Left agendas – much further Left than most Democrats.

Example 1: watch?v=t-JbRH2morI
Ex. 2: Hot Air's "Media Matters dishonest editing in support of their “smear” argument exposed"
Ex. 3: Mediaite's "Media Matters Gives Glenn Beck’s Co-Hosts The Shirley Sherrod Edited Audio Treatment"

@MisterHappyGoLucky It's like you're trying to misinterpret my comment. Let's reexamine the example I gave, what, *2 months ago*. If you're using "premise" now in the same sense I was then, you'd have to be arguing that I'm not allowed to cite any New York Times articles because I disagree with many of their other articles. That's asinine.

I used "premise" in that sense because I see nowhere in the study that it's stated that ACLU is moderate and that this is part of their rubric.

@fadeawayinwestla I asked whether it was "okay," not whether it was legal. Not that I expected you to make a valid ethical decision or anything, what with you being a Leftist and all; still, actually answering questions for once would be nice. (FYI, Media Matters is well-documented to be a producer of lies and smears.) And don't think I didn't notice how you completely ignored the question of NPR receiving those funds – yet you accuse ME of only having talking points. Pathetic.

@davidumpteen When your criticisms of Beck are based on what he actually does and not what liberal blogs accuse him of doing, let us know. Hint: Media Matters, the usual source for "proof" that Beck is eeeevil, is an organization of serial liars – their blatantly-out-of-context clips have been documented repeatedly – so any "gotcha" Glenn Beck quote from them is automatically suspect.

Reply

@MisterHappyGoLucky Exactly what point do you think you're making? If I find the ACLU leans Left, then I can't use the study? I have to agree with every stated premise, or throw it all out? Think on this: If the NYT, a paper documented to lean Left, reports a story that makes some Leftist look bad, it only adds credence to the attack on the Leftist and the Right can cite it without loving the Times. Yet you imply _I_ am "mildly familiar" with critical thinking. Screw your backhanded compliment.

@madehero2007 First of all Larry King Live is an interview type of broadcast, whenever he doesn't have someone to interview he just asks random questions without pushing an agenda. Anderson Cooper may give what sounds like an opinion but really he's just following up on a question he may have asked and you can tell that he's fair because he treat Republicans and Democrats the same. Parker, Spitzer is opinion based but both of them have different views thus cancelling out any bias.

@mYOzZyKaT lying about what? I am lying because you BET I voted for a Republican? Are you retarded? I voted for Bob Barr and before that I voted for Badnarik. The funny part is you are being played by your party as much as the Repubs and you are such a fanboy you cant even see it. Enjoy t while it lasts because after Tuesday the Dems days are numbered. LOL!

I agree with the chairman's points, but it feels like a set-up.

Of course, Fox would never ambush anyone [/sarcasm]

@Squarehead29 "Sure the station he works for is biased…" – Would you say the same thing of a guy who works at MSNBC, CBS, ABC or CNN, when they maintain an obviously larger degree of left leaning political bias then Fox news leans right?

And don't be confused, I'm no progressive liberal Democrat; I consider myself a right-of-center Conservative, like the majority of Americans are.

Reply
BSD2000

@sleeve81 Really? Well, here's your chance – let's hear you admit what 'stuff' is 'shit' on the major networks competing with Fox.

MSNBC's prime time line-up is NOT prejudicial? Inflammatory? Lies? How about Maddow? Olberman? Just about every news story on MSNBC? Over 75% of CNN's political news coverage? What do you consider The Daily show – entertainment or news?

Please name specific examples of the 'so many lies' and the prejudicial and inflammatory comments from 'Fox News'.

@granthor219 All of the major news organizations (besides Fox) personel overwhelmingly (90+%) donate to Democrats. George Soros not only donates money to left leaning news media in support of Democrats, he also funds entire organizations (Media Matters, etc.) to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars, yet not a peep from people like you.

Target Fox all you want, but there is a reason why it's number one in ratings with the widest demographic (liberal and conservative viewership): TRUST

When a news org donates a million dollars in a political campaign, they are no longer a news org. they are a political action committee. The chair of this meeting was within his rights to put the guy on the spot.

@mYOzZyKaT The key phrase "in our minds" says it all. You are being intellectually dishonest. BTW I am not a Republican. I am a registered Libertarian. If you have to resort to argumentum ad hominem at least be accurate about your name calling.

@Flamesdupont CBO: "What is certain is that the irresponsibility of the past put the country on an unsustainable fiscal trajectory.”

As for the president. We've had an imperial presidency for at least the past 30 years. It is a wish list- that mostly gets fulfilled. Congress is more concerned with raising money and getting elected- and that means deferring to the president. The budget is out of control because of the past.

Why don't you understand that?

@mYOzZyKaT Robert Byrd was a Republican? You should google the term Confirmation Bias. A lot of smart people fall victim to it and make stupid statements based on their confirmarion bias. Your "get out of jail free card" to the Southern Democrats is laughable. I suggest you spend a little time in the deep south. The Dems use minorities. They are still working on the Dems plantation. Nothing like voting against school choice to keep the poor and minorities dumb and dependant on Dem handouts

@picklefarmer7 One thing CNN does is their incessant coverage of Sarah "half-term governor" Palin, who is not in office, is not a candidate for anything, has no standing whatsoever, yet we have to be told every time one of her minions tweets something in her name or posts some adolescent drivel on her Facebook page.

No, CNN is NOT liberal. I agree with the other poster who said that if the left and right are both angry at them, CNN must be in the middle.

@will122391 What's not fair about a reasonable confrontation that doesn't lead to shouting and results in everything being OK? Even the Fox News guy admitted their style of reporting is widely known as biased. I didn't say the right is not intelligent, I said they lack intellectual integrity. Different. Ratings show popularity, not credibility. The Weekly World News is popular but untrue. The right might be more wealthy, but not demonstrably more educated. You barely got what I wrote.

@JTrillo That is not the biggest issue in this video, nor is it an issue. The simple fact of the matter is that this nation was founded under the principle of a god. This nation was guided and influenced by the notion of a god. This is the reason why, as an example, on the coins we have the saying, "In God We Trust".

Also, you should look up what the constitution says and what it means, if you had and you were actually knowledgeable, you would not be saying that.
